Sheikh Zayed Book Award Unveils Longlists for Three Key Categories

Abu Dhabi, 17 December 2024 (WAM): According to the announcement made in Dubai, the Sheikh Zayed Book Award (SZBA) sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) has nominated three categories for the longlists of the nineteenth edition Brings on Translation, Contribution to the Development of Nations, Literary and Art Criticism. These selections, determined by the award’s judging panels, are currently under evaluation.

Translation Category

The Translation version of the book category longtime list contains 19 titles from Germany, Italy, Mali, Syria, Morocco, Algeria, Iraq, Egypt, Palestine, and Saudi Arabia. The works were translated from and into Arabic in German English Spanish and French Arab.

Literary and Art Criticism Category

This involved 13 titles registered in Morocco, Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Palestine and Syria.

Contribution to the Development of Nations Category

This category had eight books from Syria, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, the UAE and Saudi who were awarded.

Sheikh Zayed Book Award emphasizes other aspects other than literature and the creative works only written in Arabic language. The awarding of these prizes mainly seeks to improve the standards of translation and to motivate translators to interculturally transfer Arab culture and civilization. In this respect, the award encourages intercultural dialogue of nations, advocating tolerance, coexistence, and peace of the nations.
